LIFESTYLE: The Rookery

At Sea Island Company, we have maintained our commitment to land preservation throughout our history. The development of Frederica is no exception. There is a plan for virtually every inch of the 3,000 acres that house Frederica. The majority of the land will remain untouched, left to nature and wildlife. Sea Island Company has also established a special protection area encompassing 774 acres including the 400 acre rookery for the preservation of the endangered wood stork. This nesting colony is a very important habitat and one of the more successful wood stork colonies in the Southeast.
