Golfing at frederica

"What a combination of two of the great golf names in the world.
And then they built a style of golf course that really isn't like any other."

- Davis Love, PGA Professional and property owner at Frederica

Among the top private golf courses

Golf course designer Tom Fazio's attention to detail and scrutiny of every potential shot is what makes his courses - and Frederica Golf Club's course - a true golfer's paradise. Each round you play presents a different aspect of a finely crafted course that offers panoramas of the surrounding waterways, shade from massive live oak trees and a glimpse of native wildlife.

Frederica's course is designed to accommodate every level of golfer. Five sets of tees to match your game - from the 5,174-yard red tees to the gold tees of 7,217 yards. This diversity, combined with exemplary course maintenance, attention to detail, world-class design and unparalleled surroundings make Frederica Golf Club's golf course one of the top golf courses in the country.

As you tee up on No. 17. you are standing on the highest elevation in Glynn County - a spot of land that perches 47 feet above sea level.

From this vantage point, the gentle hills and slopes, strategically placed tree lines and bunkers guarding beautifully manicured greens are hallmarks of this Fazio design - executed in collaboration with Sir Michael Bonallack of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.

Unlike other Fazio designs, Frederica's golf course boasts larger greens than most of his other courses. But don't let the welcoming greens and broad, undulating fairways lower your guard. This 300-acre course is a golfer's dream - beautiful but challenging, immaculate but with plenty of sharp-edged traps and ball-trapping rough. The oaks, some of more than 1,000 transplanted when the lake was excavated, and towering slash pines provide good visual markers. Don't stray too far into the rough - prickly native palmettos are unforgiving adversaries. White tail deer are timid course regulars - and keep your eyes open for the occasional alligator sunning itself around the lake.

An aggressive overseeding program is testament to Frederica Golf Club's commitment to presentation of the Southeast's best private golf courses. More than 75,000 pounds of overseed insures that the golf course is as lush and green during the winter as it is in spring and summer.

A course of this stature is a challenge and professional caddies are available to assist you in navigating the course. Their training - the same required of caddies at the venerable Augusta National - will provide you with valuable, in-depth knowledge of the course's nuances and compliment the remarkable experience you will enjoy playing Frederica's golf course.
